How to make a screen recording that zooms in on every click
Record a Chrome tab with the free Scrolvo extension and the video zooms in on each click by itself: in just before you click, along with you while you work in one spot, and back out as you move on. Open the recording on scrolvo.appzlr.com to watch the zooms, move, retime or remove any of them, then download a zoomed MP4 or share a link. Recording and editing are free; zoomed downloads and links are part of Scrolvo Pro ($10/month or $100/year), with a 7-day free trial.
While it records a tab, the extension notes where the pointer moves and clicks, never what you type or what the page says. Because the video is already recorded when the zooms are planned, each one can start just before the click instead of lagging behind it.
Auto-zoom screen recorder
Open the side panel
Add Scrolvo from the Chrome Web Store, then click its icon in the toolbar to open the side panel.
Record a tab
In the side panel, choose Record, pick the tab and go through what you want to show at your normal pace. Press Stop when you're done.
Open it in Scrolvo
Under the finished recording, click Open in Scrolvo. The video opens on scrolvo.appzlr.com with a zoom on the timeline for every click, or for every run of clicks close together.
Adjust the zooms
Play the preview to see them. Drag a zoom on the timeline to move it, drag its ends to change when it starts and stops, and choose Subtle, Medium or Close for how far it zooms in. Click the preview to change where a zoom looks, remove the ones you don't want, or add one where there was no click.
Download or share it
Click Download zoomed MP4, or create a share link: the link shows the zooms while they're on. Both need Scrolvo Pro; without it, turn the zooms off to download or share the plain video for free.
- Zooms come from clicks in a tab recorded with the extension. A window or whole-screen recording, or one made on scrolvo.appzlr.com/record/, has no clicks to follow, but you can still add zooms by hand on its timeline.
- Clicks a few seconds apart share one zoom, which pans from one to the next instead of zooming out and in again. When the page scrolls after a click, the zoom pulls back out.
- It works best with the camera bubble off: the bubble is part of the tab's picture, so it's zoomed with the page.
- Click rings can mark where each click landed, and they can be turned off.
Questions and answers
Is there a free screen recorder that zooms in on clicks?
Scrolvo records and plans the zooms for free, with no account, and you can watch and adjust them in the preview without paying. Downloading the zoomed MP4 or sharing it as a link is part of Scrolvo Pro, $10/month or $100/year, and new subscribers get a 7-day free trial.
Does it work on Windows, Mac and Chromebook?
Yes. Scrolvo runs in Chrome, so it works anywhere Chrome does, including Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS. Zooms follow clicks in a browser tab, not in desktop apps.
Can I change or remove a zoom?
Yes. Every zoom sits on the video's timeline: drag it to move it, drag its ends to retime it, pick how close it zooms, click the preview to aim it, or remove it. You can also turn all the zooms off at once.
Does Scrolvo record what I type?
No. While it records a tab, Scrolvo notes where the pointer moves and clicks, and where a field you type into is, so it can zoom to that field. It never keeps the text you type or what the page says.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Scrolvo records in your browser and keeps the video on your computer. It's only uploaded if you create a share link, and that copy is deleted when the link expires.
