A Screenity alternative with free MP4 downloads

Scrolvo's screen recorder is free, needs no account and keeps the video on your computer, like Screenity's extension. Unlike Screenity, cutting, captions, MP4 or GIF downloads and share links are free too (links with a free account), and the same extension takes full page screenshots and turns a tab recording into a step-by-step guide. Scrolvo Pro, $10/month or $100/year, adds auto-zoom and longer links; Screenity's editor, share links, MP4 export and auto-zoom are in its $120-a-year plan.

Why switch

What Scrolvo does differently

Finish and share for free

Cut a recording anywhere, add captions, save it as MP4 or turn a few seconds into a GIF without paying or signing in. Share it as a link with a free account, and viewers can comment and react. The online recorder saves every second as it goes, so a closed tab can be recovered.

Screenshots and guides in the same extension

Scrolvo also takes full page screenshots, captures the chats and feeds that scroll inside a page as one image, and turns a tab recording into a step-by-step guide with a screenshot for every click.

Your video stays yours

Recordings are made and kept in your browser. Nothing is uploaded unless you create a share link, and that copy is deleted when the link expires.

Auto-zoom without an editing session

With Scrolvo Pro, a tab recorded with the extension zooms in on every click by itself. Download it as an MP4 or share it as a link.

To be fair

When Screenity may suit you better

  • You draw or blur on a window or your whole screen while you record, not only on a tab.
  • You want a multi-scene editor with layouts and device frames.
  • You want to retime zooms by hand or add your own.
  • You want an open-source recorder.
FAQ

Questions and answers

Is Scrolvo's screen recorder free like Screenity's?

Yes. Recording a tab, a window or your screen with your microphone and a webcam bubble is free, with no account and no watermark. Cutting, captions and MP4 or GIF downloads are free too, and so are share links with a free account. Auto-zoom and longer links are part of Scrolvo Pro.

Can I share a recording as a link?

Yes. Sign in with a free account and create a link from the video page: viewers watch on any device, comment, react and read the captions, with no account of their own. Free links last 1 or 7 days, up to 10 at a time, with videos up to 50 MB (a longer video is made smaller to fit, so about ten minutes fit). Scrolvo Pro ($10/month or $100/year) takes videos up to 95 MB, keeps links until you delete them, and adds a password, a button and a download switch.

Does Scrolvo zoom in on clicks?

Yes, with Scrolvo Pro: a tab recorded with the extension zooms in on every click by itself. The extension notes where the pointer clicks, never what's typed, and keeps that note with the recording on your computer.

Can I use Scrolvo and Screenity together?

Yes. They don't interfere with each other. Each one opens from its own toolbar icon.
